Foster Care

Families choosing foster care through Christian Family Care have said ‘yes’ to the Lord and a journey of faith and trust in his providential care of His children through them. By providing temporary care to children who have experienced the impact of neglect, trauma, and abuse – our foster families give children an opportunity to heal, finding a practical demonstration of God’s love and the opportunity to know him personally through the witness of their families and the hearing of the gospel message.

Through our regular foster care contract with the Department of Economic Security, families can minister to children coming through the state child protective system. We recently gained the state wide opportunity to minister to children who need higher levels of care through the Department of Developmental Disabilities. These children come with disabilities such as autism, mental retardation, and other developmental and physical challenges.

Is God calling you to become a foster parent?

In James 1:27 we read “True religion is this, to care for orphans and widows in their time of need”. The state of Arizona has over 10,000 children currently in foster care. These children represent all ages and ethnic groups. Many of these children are living in group homes waiting for a foster home and a foster family to love them. Christian Family Care is on a mission to find more loving Christian homes to meet this need.

Children are placed in foster care because their home is not safe for them. Christian Family Care foster homes provide a safe, temporary place for children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect. The goal of foster care is to provide safety for the child while the circumstances in the home are resolved. For some children returning home is not possible and those children may need an adoptive home. Many foster parents adopt their foster children. There is no financial cost to a family who adopts a child from the foster care system.

The decision to welcome a foster child into your home and family is one that requires careful thought and prayer. The love and guidance that foster parents give to a child can benefit them for the rest of their life.
