The Christian Family Care Agency staff is made up of over 100 paid and volunteer individuals who lovingly serve children, families and the community. A few names that you may have already met and whom are leaders for the Agency are as follows.
Mark Upton President / CEO
PHOENIX – August 17, 2007 – For the first time in its 25-year history, Christian Family Care Agency (CFCA) has a new leader charting its course.
Scottsdale’s Mark Upton, formerly the Executive Vice President/Provost of Phoenix Seminary, is the Agency’s new President. He assumes a role previously held solely by CFCA founder Kay Ekstrom. Ekstrom announced her retirement earlier this year (2007) after leading the private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) social services agency since its founding in 1982.
“I’m honored to take the vision God gave Kay 25 years ago and now expand and refocus it,” Upton said. “I look forward to working closely with CFCA’s board and staff to help build the future, one child at a time.”
A licensed minister with Scottsdale Bible Church, Upton assumes CFCA’s leadership October 1st after serving at Phoenix Seminary for more than nine years. During his tenure, he helped mold the institution’s work culture into an environment recognized by Christianity Today Magazine as the nation’s best Christian workplace for four consecutive years. He also led the institution through its initial accreditation with the Association of Theological Schools and Higher Learning Commission.
Upton brings a deep and abiding love for our Lord, a love for children and families, and a passion for excellence to the ministry of CFCA. He also brings more than 21 years of experience in the finance and real estate industries to his new position and has served on various community boards.
God has been speaking to his heart about the opportunity at CFCA, and together with the Search Committee and CFCA's Board of Directors, there has been affirmation that he is the servant God has chosen to lead this ministry into the future.
Mark Upton is married to Lorraine and they have a son and two daughters, as well as eight grandchildren (2 adopted). They have lived in the valley for over thirty years.
